Pediatric Therapy

At our pediatric physical therapist program, your child’s development is our top priority.

Our pediatric mobility experts have been helping children and adolescents with a range of diagnoses and conditions for over 20 years, and our Pediatric PT program has helped thousands of kids grow stronger and more independent. Our profession — and our passion — is helping kids succeed to the best of their ability.

When we see a child’s confidence and capabilities grow, we're reminded of why we do what we do. Whether your child is recovering from an injury or coping with a disability, we'll do everything we can to help them achieve more.

What do pediatric physical therapists do?

Pediatric physical therapists work with children and their families to help each child reach his or her maximum potential to function independently. They promote active participation in home, school, and community environments.

PTs also promote health and wellness as they implement a wide variety of therapies for children from infancy through adolescence in collaboration with their families and other medical, educational, developmental, and rehabilitation specialists.

After an injury, physical therapists work to decrease pain, improve movement and help kids return to daily activities. They teach kids exercises designed to help them regain strength and range of motion, and they also show kids and families how to prevent future injuries.

Pediatric PT Personalized to Your Child

Our physical therapists perform in-depth evaluations, which help determine the needs and goals of each child. We then design a comprehensive treatment plan to reach those goals. As we work and interact with each individual, we reevaluate and adjust treatment plans as necessary to keep progress moving forward.

Our pediatric physical therapy specialists address mobility issues related to range of motion, muscle weakness and development, gross motor function and motor skills, coordination issues, cerebral palsy, brain injury, sports injuries, speech and occupational therapies, spina bifida, Down syndrome, and other physical impairments.

We treat children with the following pediatric physical conditions:

Postural Conditions

Gait Deviations

  • Limping gait/uneven stance
  • Leg length discrepancy

Developmental

  • Decreased muscle strength (promote muscle development)
  • Developmental Coordination Disorder (learn balance, coordination, and motor skills)

Sensory Integration Difficulties

  • Sensory irritation
  • Fear of different sounds, textures, and surfaces

Teletherapy with JAG Physical Therapy

Telehealth uses electronic communication and technology to remotely provide healthcare information and services. JAG PT can provide telehealth physical therapy to many of our patients, including pediatric patients, and it can be integrated with our in-facility services.

In addition to other benefits of telehealth, online video-conferencing with patients at home helps us to further evaluate and make recommendations on home environments. It also gives us the chance to reinforce learned physical therapy tasks and techniques for maximum efficacy.

In-house or from your house, we can continue to evaluate, monitor, and educate you and your child as he or she progresses with their physical therapy exercises. To find out more about how our telehealth program might serve you, please contact us.
